Just your friendly neighborhood Duomo

This is Florence for me: all red tiled roofs and walking the same streets as the Renaissance rock stars. Then BAM, you turn the corner and look who is there to greet you: your friendly neighborhood Duomo.

For more Duomo love may I suggest Brunellschi’s Dome by Ross King. For a great, in-depth story on the construction of this engineering marvel, you will enjoy watching the video below. Although it’s long (50 minutes), it’s very informative.

I invite you to sign my guestbook, and be sure to like my Facebook page, where I share often about Italy!

    Great resource, thanks! 🙂

  2. Love Florence and the Duomo. I brought my children there 2 summers ago because they hadn’t seen Florence before. But the baptistry was closed. Does anyone know if it has reopened?

    1. I’m not sure about that…I know the Opera del Duomo museum has re-opened…

  3. The Duomo’s great but my favourite is the baptistry as it is simply breathtaking! Great post, thanks for reminding me that I need to head to Florence again soon – its been too long!

    1. You are so right, the baptistry should not be missed. Beloved by the Florentine people as well I’m told. Thank you for visiting me here and for sharing your thoughts!
