Even though Halloween is not officially celebrated in Italy, the kid cousins whom I adore there certainly know all about our American tradition. So, to infuse a little Italian into our holiday, here’s some dolcetto o scherzetto parole — trick or treat words — for you. Buon divertimente! Have fun! Parole Italiane – Italian Words
- Dolcetto o scherzetto = trick or treat (literally: little sweet or little joke?)
- La zucca = pumpkin
- La strega = witch
- i fantasmi = ghosts
- Una casa infestata (di fantasmi) = haunted house (literally: a house infested of ghosts)
- Lo scheletro = skeleton
- Il ragno = spider
- Il pipistrello = bat (love saying this word!)
- Gatto nero = black cat
- La caramella = candy
