I often hear people say the Franciscan churches in Italy are very plain inside, but of course St. Francis abhorred material extravagance. There are many Franciscan churches in our province of Ascoli Piceno, as St. Francis wandered these sweet hills, preaching the simplest way to praise God.
How wonderful to think of St Francis roaming the same land where you are!
P.S. A great way to improve your Italian fluency, if you are Catholic, is to learn and say the Hail Mary and Our Father in Italian. 😉
great suggestion! The prayers are so beautiful in the Italian. 🙂
Adore Assisi!!! and adore St. Frances!
